FAQ

Why is Etiscope trusted by some of the worlds biggest brands?

Etiscope is an award winning, industry recognised safety platform, which helps organisations protect their workers, by managing MSD injury risk in the workplace.

Etiscope won the 2023 AiiA Technology Platform Solution of the Year, and the 2023 US Market Access Program, and was recently selected by the US National Safety Council as a premium partner for MSD Solutions.

We have rigorous security and data protection policies that allow us to be used in military and infrastructure companies in Australia, the USA and the UK.

How does the Etiscope system work?

The Etiscope system consists of three elements:

  • Etiscope wearable sensors are worn by an employee while they perform a specific manual task for review.

  • The Etiscope App records and interprets the task assessment sensor data on an iPad, and provides a Consequential Risk Score. The Consequential Risk Score allows the user to prioritise and expedite risk controls before injuries occur.

  • The Etiscope Dashboard provides an online platform for reviewing and comparing task assessment data across different sites and employee scenarios. The data is stored in a cloud-based library providing an accurate birds-eye view of injury risk, and risk control priorities and effectiveness throughout an organisation.

The sensors together with video captured data provide the opportunity to trial risk controls, review pre and post risk scores during the same assessment window and can also provide frontline management engagement opportunities as the data can be viewed and assessed in real-time.

The user can also edit additional risk factors based on a single assessment; for example, the impact of task frequency and duration across an entire shift and the employees’ perceived load.

Etiscope’s wearable sensor technology provides far greater accuracy than either single/dual sensor, or AI motion capture systems, and works in all industrial settings where the subject may not always be in full view of the video.

What is the Etiscope Dashboard?

The Etiscope Dashboard provides powerful opportunities for analysis, and use of the risk assessment and control results.

It provides detailed summaries of where injury risk lies, and which aspects of the task represent the highest risk exposure.

It is also where users can export video and data for inclusion into detailed reporting or the company’s existing safety management systems.

How is Etiscope data used?

Etiscope’s detailed, actionable data empowers organisations to make informed decisions to choose, test and verify risk controls.

Each task assessment will provide five reports:

  • Summary assessment identifying the key risk factors

  • Detailed contributing factors report

  • Task description

  • Data capture summary

  • Physical task demands report for recruitment and return to work

Reporting features include:

  • Risk Score with claims-impact weighting - Consequential Risk Score Analysis

  • All manual task risk factors input

  • Pre and post risk control comparison

  • What-if scenario creation

  • Data export for analysis and integration into safety management systems

  • Premium reporting per sample

  • Auto sensor configuration

  • Job task library physical task demands report

  • No limit to assessment and report numbers

Typical uses of Etiscope technology:

  • Building physical task demands libraries for return-to-work and on boarding

  • Analysing high risk tasks and building potential solutions

  • Undertaking comparative analysis to assist decisions on procurement and work processes

  • Developing task libraries for better medical practitioner engagement and return-to-work outcomes

  • Establishing training videos

Privacy & Governance

  • Assessments can be run with de-identified worker IDs

  • Raw video access is permission-controlled; auto face blurring is available at or after assessment

  • Data is stored in a cloud library with export to your safety systems; access is logged

  • Follow your site’s consent and policy requirements

Which international standards does Etiscope align with?

Etiscope is fully aligned with risk assessment methods including REBA, RULA, MAC, ART and RAPP. Lower-limb postures in REBA are not yet covered. The Revised NIOSH Lifting Equation is methodologically different and not directly comparable to Etiscope at this stage.

Etiscope can assess at least the same, or more, back, neck and upper limb movements, actions and postures above the wrist, as addressed by the following risk assessment methods:

  • HSE: Upper Limb Disorders (ULD’s) in the workplace (HSG60), UK.

  • HSE: Manual Handling Assessment Charts (MAC) (INDG383), UK.

  • HSE: Assessment of Repetitive Tasks (ART) (INDG438), UK.

  • HSE: Risk assessment of pushing and pulling (RAPP) (INDG478), UK.

  • Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA)

  • Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA)

How many Etiscope kits does your organisation need?

Each Etiscope kit comes with a license, similar to a mobile phone plan. Just as a phone plan allows you to make unlimited calls; your Etiscope kit License enables you to perform and report unlimited manual task risk assessments. Sharing kits across various locations and divisions can be a logistical challenge, so additional kits may be required to meet your organisational needs. Each Etiscope Kit has a separate License Fee.

Some customers choose to share a single Etiscope Kit between different locations and divisions and others, require several Kits due to the distance between plants and the ongoing commitment to the development of Task Demands Libraries.

Another client has depots in 135 locations and currently share 109 Etiscope Kits. To date, they have performed more than 200,000 manual task risk assessments at a cost of less than $4 each.

The answer is, your geography, the number of tasks to be assessed and the size of your team may dictate whether you have one system or many.

In addition, you may choose to outsource the services to an Etiscope integration partner to, for example, prepare the task demands libraries and commence the integration process, however we propose under this program that Etiscope will train existing staff to deliver the services to you across the various sites.

Training includes both the use of the Etiscope system (sensors, app and dashboard) and the interpretation of the reports for most effective risk control and MSD injury prevention.
